Original files vs. optimized versions
When you store digital collections in KLEKSI, your original files are safely stored in our Digital Asset Management (DAM) system. These are the high-resolution, uncompressed versions of your works, which are important for long-term preservation and archiving.
However, these files are often large and do not need to be used continuously. Therefore, KLEKSI automatically generates optimized versions of these files. These versions are lighter, consume less traffic and are practically indistinguishable from the original for daily use, whether for your employees or for visitors to your online collection.

Your optimized versions are made locally accessible via what we call **internal storage**, so that you and your employees can work with the files quickly and efficiently. For this internal storage, you pay only €0.12 per GB .
Because the original files rarely need to be retrieved continuously, we store them in a more cost-conscious, less direct storage. This storage is still very secure, but allows us to keep the price low. For the storage of your original files, you pay only €0.06 per GB .
