Document, digitize and publish your collection(s) with KLEKSI
KLEKSI is a web-based collection management system and has been developed for curators and collection managers of museums, heritage institutions and cultural heritage associations who want to digitize their collection in an easy and flexible way.
Manage your collection via desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone
KLEKSI is responsive and adapts to any type of device regardless of the resolution. You can manage your collection wherever you are and whenever you want. You only need an internet connection. Take photos with your smartphone and add them directly to your collection. Do you work with professional photo equipment? Then manage your collection just as easily via a desktop computer.
Filemanager met drag & drop uploading
KLEKSI offers a handy file manager that allows you to archive and upload files, images and videos in a way you are used to. Upload files with a simple drag & drop from your PC's explorer or the finder of your Apple device. After you have uploaded the files to the file manager, you can retrieve them at any time and via any device and process them in your collection.
Advanced zoom function
With KLEKSI you publish large and detailed images on your website. When uploading high-resolution images in KLEKSI, it is possible to zoom in far enough to reveal the brushstrokes and sometimes even the pigment particles in the paint. With the zoom function of KLEKSI you can quickly zoom in on huge images because the images are divided into squares on the fly. It works much like Google Maps - click to zoom, level by level. This technique benefits the loading time and user experience of visitors on your website.
KLEKSI is equipped with an advanced search functionality based on 'Elasticsearch'
Elasticsearch stores, searches and analyzes large amounts of data quickly, in near real-time. You will receive the results found in milliseconds. Elasticsearch responds quickly because instead of searching directly in the text, it searches an optimized database. Specially developed for websites with huge amounts of data (such as Facebook, Amazon, Bol.com or Netflix) where someone needs to be able to request the results quickly and easily. KLEKSI and the frontend for your visitors are equipped with Elasticsearch for a pleasant user experience.
Inform visitors digitally within your museum
With KLEKSI you can inform visitors about your objects on the basis of QR codes that KLEKSI automatically generates for you. This creates an extra revenue model for your museum, association or exhibition. Visitors who scan a QR code are automatically redirected to the page where more information about the object is listed. Place or hang the QR code next to the object and your visitors can retrieve information about the object in question with any smartphone.
KLEKSI makes your collection, exhibition and museum easier to find
The frontend, the search function and filter option for visitors, will be installed on your own (existing) domain name. KLEKSI is SEO technically optimized so that your collection is indexed perfectly by search engines. The more visitors discover your collection, the more visitors you will eventually attract to your exhibition or museums.
From now on, your collection is also accessible to people with disabilities
KLEKSI automatically transfers the title and description of each object from text to speech, making your collection accessible to a wider audience. Text-to-speech (TextToSpeech:TTS) extends the reach of your collection and caters to different needs of different users. Such as low-literate people, children and adults with learning disabilities or reading disabilities such as dyslexia and people with reduced vision. But also for all people who simply rather listen than read.
KLEKSI complies with the DERA
The abbreviation DERA stands for Digital Heritage Reference Architecture and provides direction to collaborating parties, in this case to make heritage information more visible in the Digital Heritage Network. In collaboration with Network Digital Heritage (NDE), KLEKSI has been made compliant with the DERA and in line with the NDE objectives and infrastructure. Persistent identifiers, linked open data and a link with the Terms Network are part of KLEKSI.
